Behavioral-health and recovery care, planned for right here in western Wisconsin.

Regional reach Western Wisconsin
Planned to serve the St. Croix River Valley and surrounding rural communities, not just St. Croix Falls.

Our mission

Comprehensive, accessible, compassionate care

House of Hope exists to improve mental health and emotional well-being through comprehensive, accessible, and compassionate services — clinical treatment, counseling, psychiatric services, therapeutic programming, education, prevention, and community-based support for individuals across all stages of life.

Compassionate Care

Every person deserves to be seen with dignity and supported with grace, accountability, and real hope.

Coordinated Recovery

Crisis stabilization, treatment, and community support connected as one continuum, not scattered across separate systems.

Community Healing

When one life is restored close to home, families stay together and communities grow stronger.

Why this matters

A local problem — and a statewide one

Behavioral-health and substance-use needs don't stop at the St. Croix Falls city limits. Polk County and the surrounding communities across western Wisconsin face the same rural access barriers: long travel distances, limited transportation, and few nearby treatment options — often meaning a trip all the way to Milwaukee just to get help.

A local and regional concern

Substance-use and mental-health crises affect families throughout Polk County and the wider St. Croix Valley, not just within one town.

Long travel for care

Many residents currently travel far outside the region — including trips to Milwaukee — to reach behavioral-health treatment.

Rural barriers remain real

Distance, limited transportation, and workforce shortages make timely care harder to reach across rural western Wisconsin.

Care closer to home helps everyone

Keeping people connected to their community during recovery supports better outcomes and eases the burden on families and first responders.

What's planned for the building

Services planned at House of Hope

Once licensed and open, House of Hope is planned to give the region a dedicated place for behavioral-health emergencies — separate from a general emergency room, and built specifically for stabilization and the next right step. Only services that are approved, licensed, and actually available will be offered.

Crisis assessment & evaluation

A trained team assesses each person's immediate behavioral-health needs as they arrive.

Observation & stabilization

A calm, appropriate setting for people experiencing a substance-use or mental-health crisis to stabilize safely.

Care coordination

Connecting each person with the right ongoing provider, rather than discharging without a plan.

Transition planning

Preparing a clear, supported next step — whether that's outpatient care, treatment, or continued recovery support.

Part of something larger

One coordinated recovery campus, not a fragmented system

House of Hope is planned as the front door of a broader effort to reuse the former hospital as a full behavioral-healthcare and recovery campus — connecting every stage of care under one roof, in partnership with independent providers throughout the community.
